The risk for Moldova is that incertitude might become final, stated European Parliament's Rapporteur for Moldova, Graham Watson MEP, at a conference held in Brussels under the theme “Moldova: The End of the Political Crisis?”. The MEP suggested that the European Union should make small steps towards Moldova, offering it constantly something to gain from this approaching, it was said in a press release from Paneuropa Foundation, the organizer of the event. The conference addressed possible scenarios for Moldova to follow in order to overcome the political crisis after the November 28 parliamentary elections. “The elections were a test for the consolidation of the Moldovan democracy”, stated Moldova's Ambassador to the EU Daniela Cujba. “I believe that at the beginning of the next year we will have a new government”, the diplomat said. At the same conference, European Commission representative Reinhold Brender said that what the European Union is offering Moldova is a long-term prospect, whereas Moldova's demands are immediate. Monica Macovei, the chief of the European Parliament's Delegation for Moldova, said the country saw certain progress in electoral matters from the last elections, and the recent ballot has met most democratic standards. As for the vote rigging accusations made by the PCRM, the MEP said the international observers didn't report such fraud. Klara Weger, representing the European Partnership for Democracy, said that what happened now isn't a replication of the situation in 2009, and the relatively high voter turnout indicates the people's commitment to a sustainable solution to the political crisis. The conference was organized by Europuls Association and Paneuropa Foundation.
