Prime Minister Maia Sandu said the European Union is ready to reopen the discussions on the macro-financial assistance, to offer financial support for cross-border cooperation projects and to assist the Republic of Moldova with international expertise in strengthening the democratic institutions. She noted she was assured of this by the Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova Peter Michalko in a meeting, IPN reports.

“I thanked Mister Michalko for the enormous support provided by the European Union to the Republic of Moldova in time. I assured him that the new Government will fulfil the provisions of the Association Agreement with the EU and will respect all the commitments concerning the reforms and principles defined in the Association Agreement,” Maia Sandu posted on Facebook.

On June 17, the Premier also had a meeting with U.S. Ambassador Dereck J. Hogan whom Maia Sandu thanked in the name of all the citizens for the constant support and, in particular, for the recent support given to the new legitimate and democratically invested Government.

For his part, Ambassador Hogan was quoted by the Government’s press service as saying that the United States will closely cooperate with the new Government in consolidating the rule of law and in building solid institutions that would ensure high living standards for all the citizens of the Republic of Moldova.
