The EU High Level Adviser in Customs Rosario de Blasio noted the evolution of the Customs Service of the Republic of Moldova. He developed the issue in a public debate centering on the experience of the EU member states in implementing reforms, staged by the EU Delegation to Moldova, IPN reports, quoting a press release of the Customs Service.

Rosario de Blasio said the Service developed and this is evident following the rise in the amounts collected into the state budget. He also referred to the development of the conception of risk management and the pace of implementing the reform agenda. He underlined the importance of increasing the salaries of customs officers so as to avoid possible integrity-related incidents.

The event was organized by the EU Delegation to Moldova on the occasion of the official launch of the EU High Level Policy Advisory Mission that consists of 21 senior experts who will counsel the national public institutions in the key sectors of the Association Agreement.

Rosario de Blasio started work at the Customs Service of the Republic of Moldova in February. He has an experience of over 20 years of work in the Customs Agency of Italy, the last ten years being involved in the projects of the EUBAM Mission.

The European expert offers consultancy to the Customs Service by the review of the relevant strategic policy documents and formulation of policy recommendations concerning the implementation of the EU – Moldova Association Council, including the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement.
