The European Union will provide €3 million to cover the costs of drafting the design documents for the Bălți Regional Hospital. The government has approved the grant agreement with the Council of Europe Development Bank for technical assistance in implementing the project, IPN reports.

Health Minister Ala Nemerenco stated that the grant is provided by the EU through the Neighbourhood Investment Platform, following an application submitted by the Council of Europe Development Bank, in partnership with the Ministry of Health.

"The funds will be used to cover the costs of developing the project documents, including both conceptual and technical aspects, detailed in four phases," the minister explained.

The hospital will cover an area of approximately 38,000 square meters, with 340 inpatient beds and 78 outpatient beds. The total construction project is valued at €108 million.

Construction is set to begin at the end of 2026, with the hospital expected to be operational by early 2029.
