EU-funded MuseumInfoTur project launched

The project "MuseumInfoTur - Enhancing and increasing the visibility of cultural and historical heritage within the cross-border network of museums - Tourist Information Centers" was launched. The project is funded by the European Uniona and co-financed by program participating countries. It aims to increase the visibility of cross-border cultural and historical heritage of the Central Region of Moldova, and the Galați County, Romania.

"MuseumInfoTur" is a platform that will contribute to the development of national and local museums in Moldova and Romania, will contribute to the development of cultural tourism, will promote national cultural heritage by creating several tourist routes in the border area, will launch information and education services for the general public regarding cultural heritage and will create online tools for informing and educating the public about heritage values", said the Secretary of State for Culture, Andrei Chistol, during the launch event, which was held online.

Within the project, training sessions and study visits to Romania and Moldova, as well as tours to promote the cultural and historical heritage of the project area will be organized. These activities will be attended by people from target groups from both countries. A profile analysis of the major tourist destinations in the project area will be developed, while taking into account common tourist routes and excursion programs. Additionally, the IT platform modernization for tourist product promotion from remarkable project area destinations is foreseen. The project envisages the endowment of Museums - Tourist Information Centers with demonstration stands and furniture for proper functioning.

MuseumInfoTur will be implemented by October 2021 and will be launched by the Center Regional Development Agency, in partnership with the Tourism Development Association of Moldova (Republic of Moldova) and the Cross-Border Cooperation Association "Lower Danube Euroregion" (Romania).
