Non-profit organizations from both the left and right side of the Nistru River are invited to apply for financial support/grants from European Union for projects that aim to create or consolidate cooperation platforms among business associations and NGOs from both sides of the Nistru, IPN reports.

The maximum grant amount is 25,000 euros. The implementation period of the projects is October 2019 – October 2021.

Information meetings for applicants will be held on August 5 in Chisinau, and on August 6 in Tiraspol. The Applicant’s Guide and the Application Form are accessible at UNDP Moldova web page. The deadline for submitting project proposals is 28 August 2019, 4:00 pm local time.

At earlier stages of the program, eight cooperation platforms between business associations on both banks of Nistru river received financial support from the EU. Thanks to the platform-approach, agricultural associations managed to promote their members at joint stands at international fairs and to sign export contracts with Western partners. Also, Tourist Information Centers were opened in Chisinau and Tiraspol, and a Center to promote organic farming was created.

The grants competition is launched by the European Union’s “Confidence Building Measures” Program, implemented by UNDP. The Program contributes to building confidence among the inhabitants from both banks of the Nistru river by involving them in joint activities.
