The European Union made a donation of equipment to the value of €125,000 to the Audiovisual Council through the agency of the international media support organization Internews, IPN reports.
The regulatory authority received computers, uninterrupted power sources, monitors and licenses for different types of software. Audiovisual Council head Liliana Vițu said the EU’s donation will increase the efficiency of the regulatory authority, the monitoring of audiovisual content being one of the seven objectives set by the Council for 2023.
EU Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova Jānis Mažeiks said that the EU, by its contribution, aims to modernize the equipment of the Audiovisual Council and to implicitly increase the capacities of the personnel responsible for the control of audiovisual content.
The Audiovisual Council this year will focus on the control of program services of audiovisual media service providers, as regards the covering of local elections, observance of the general program services concepts and ensuring of correct informing.
