The quality of air in Moldova and other countries must be regarded not only as an ecological problem, but also as an economic opportunity, said Jesus Lavina, Head of Sector Environment of EuropeAid Co-operation Office. According to the expert, the efficient use of the natural resources can contribute to the rationalization of sectors in agriculture and transport, Info-Prim Neo reports. Jesus Lavina has come to Chisinau to take part in the third meeting of the Steering Committee of the EU project “Air Quality Governance in the ENPI East Countries”. In a news conference that preceded the meeting, the official said it is important to realize that the air, more exactly its quality, is a crossborder problem that affects not only Moldova, but also the EU. In 2011, the Republic of Moldova joined the EU project “Air Quality Governance in the ENPI East Countries” that aims to improve air quality management. The project will be implemented during four years and has a budget of €7 million for seven ex-Soviet participating countries, namely Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Russia, Ukraine, and Moldova. The meeting in Chisinau is taking place on February 26-27.
