Estonia will buy a batch of armored vehicles valuded at 46 million euros for Moldova under the European Peace Facility. The Ministry of Defense made the clarifications in response to reports that Estonia was going to buy 120 million euros worth of military equipment.
Within the framework of the EPF, the Moldovan Ministry of Defense will receive armored vehicles contracted by an agency from Estonia. “This purchase, worth around 46 million euros, aims to increase the defense capabilities of the National Army, especially in terms of strengthening mobility”, the Ministry of Defense states.
To date, the EU has approved financial aid totaling 137 million euros to boost Moldova’s defense capabilities. The aid includes assistance in providing medical and engineer divisions with modern equipment, as well as strengthening the National Army’s logistics, mobility, air surveillance, communications and IT capabilities. Two batches of medical and engineer equipment have been delivered to date.
