Estonia supports Moldova in the European integration and regulation of the Transnistrian conflict process

Estonia will support the efforts of Moldova to integrate in the European Union as well as the regulation of the Transnistrian conflict. Discussions in this sense took place on MOnday, 20 March president Vladimir Voronin and his Estonian counterpart Arnol Ruutel, being in a visit in Chisinau. Referring to discussions held with Estonian president, Vladimir Voronin mentioned that there addressed aspects regarding the efforts made by Moldova on the European integration way and the latest developments of the Transnistrian conflict. The head of the state expressed his gratefulness to Estonian authorities for supporting the aspirations of European integration of Moldova, underlining the importance of taking over the experience of Estonian in pre-joining and joining EU, especially taking into account certain peculiarities connected with the joint historic past of our states. The president the fruitful cooperation of Moldova and Estonia within NATO Program „Partnership for Peace”, underscoring the assistance given by Estonian experts while drafting by our country the Individual Partnership Action Plan (IPAP) Moldova – NATO. At his turn, Arnold Ruutel reiterated the firm position of Estonia regarding the support of efforts of Moldova of European integration and to regulate the Transnistrian conflict respecting the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of the country. President of Estonia confirmed the availability of the authorities of Tallinn to support Moldova as on bilateral level, as well within OSCE, other international organisations, in problem of non-conditioned evacuation of the Russian troops and armament of the eastern part of the country, according to commitments assumed by Russian Federation within the OSCE summit in Istanbul. Arnold Ruutel said that Estonia chose Moldova as assistance country within the neighbouring policy of EU. In this context, Arnold Ruutel announced the confidence of Estonia to share with our country the experience in the filed of increasing the administrative capacities, strengthening the civil society and more active involvement in developing and improving the legislation, implementation of informational technologies in all fields. This is the first visit of Estonian president to Moldova. Tomorrow presidents of Moldova and Estonia will attend the Forum of Businessmen of both countries and will visit the Ministry of Informational Development. Than Ruutel will meet with the chairman of parliament Marian Lupu. While his visit in Chisinau, Arnold Ruutel will visit the National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History, Monastic Compound "Capriana" and Monastery Hancu. Very soon, on 3-4 April, the head of another Baltic country - Vaira Vike-Freiberga, president of Latvia will make a visit to Moldova.
