Journalist Ernest Vardanyan was sentenced to 15 years in prison by the unconstitutional authorities of Transnistria for treason and espionage in favor of Moldova. The journalist will be held in a maximum-security prison in Tiraspol, Ernest Vardanyan’s lawyer Alexandru Postica stated for Info-Prim Neo. The lawyer said a call will be made to international organizations and requests will be made to hasten the examination of this case at the ECHR. The trial took place behind closed doors. In the maximum-security prison, Ernest Vardanyan will have a limited number of visits and will be deprived of certain benefits enjoyed by other detainees. Ernest Vardanyan was arrested on April 7 in Tiraspol. He is married and has two children.
