About 30 illegal constructions in the protection area of water supply and sewerage networks were identified in the first quarter of 2016 and the owners were penalized. According to the public utility SA “Apa-Canal Chisinau”, following court decisions, in a number of cases it was decided to demolish the initiated constructions or to relocate the networks at the expense of those who were penalized, IPN reports.
Numerous unauthorized constructions are identified when checking the state of the water supply and sewerage networks. When these are discovered, reports are drawn up and submitted to the administrative commissions of the district head’s office for examination. The persons who commit such violations are fined and the started cases are sent to court.
All the illegal constructions in the protection area of water supply and sewerage networks create difficulties to the intervention teams, especially in the process of removing the faults in the public water supply and sewerage system.
The arbitrary planting of trees near networks is also a problem. The regulations stipulate a distance of at least two meters of the protection area, but the accidents in pipes with a large diameter cannot be dealt with swiftly and a distance of about 10 meters is needed. To execute the works, the teams of “Apa-Canal Chisinau must make approaches to the municipal Green Areas Association for having the trees cut down. The works are delayed and the consumers are thus dissatisfied.
