The European Union donated a set of equipment for detecting chemical, biological, radioactive and nuclear materials (CBRN) to the General Police Inspectorate. The set includes detectors and devices for patrolling inspectors, operative police units and specialists of the Technical-Forensic Center, IPN reports.
The hand-over ceremony was held on February 3 and involved representatives of the EU Delegation to Moldova. According to the authorities, the equipment will help reduce the number of cases involving CBRN materials. There will also be identified schemes to illegally bring CBRN materials into the country and the state’s security will be thus ensured.
“It is a very useful investment for the subdivisions of the Ministry of the Interior. I want to assure you that the equipment will be used according to its purpose. With the support of our partners, we will manage to ensure advanced and safe working conditions for the police,” said Minister of the Interior Alexandru Jizdan.
The donation was made within a project financed by the European Commission. The value of the project for Moldova was €416,000, €300,000 of which was allocated for the Ministry of the Interior.
