Joseph Daul, the president of the European People’s Party (EPP), said the Moldovan authorities must ensure a fair trial for every citizen of Moldova. On his twitter account, the European politician referred to the case of ex-Premier Vlad Filat, IPN reports.
According to Joseph Daul, Moldovan authorities must comply and abide by EU and international standards. The right to a fair and public trial is a fundamental right of every citizen.
He says he is deeply concerned about ex-PM Vlad Filat’s state of health and the authorities’ denial in granting him a public and fair trial.
Vlad Filat was arrested last October on charges of influence peddling and passive corruption. He pleads not guilty.
