The epidemiological ceiling for acute respiratory infections (ARIs) was exceeded. According to the National Public Health Center, last week the number of persons affected by ARIs rose 1.2 times on the previous week to over 12,000 cases.

Last week, there were also recorded 155 cases of seasonal flu. Contacted by IPN, the Center’s deputy head Nicolae Furtuna said that an increase in the number of cases of flu is usually seen in February. “Flu extends in Februarys. If changes in the structure of the virus do not occur, we will witness a decrease in March,” he stated.

Doctors recommend avoiding contact with sick people, washing and disinfecting the areas that could be contaminated, airing the homes and seeing the family doctor when the first symptoms of infection appear.

More than 300 cases of seasonal flu have been reported this year so far. Three persons died after developing complications.
