Environment Minister, Sergiu Lazarencu, has urged journalists to join the authorities in the afforestation campaign that will take place on Saturday, November 16. The minister encouraged media representatives to contribute to raising the visibility of this project and help raise public awareness of the need to protect forests, IPN reports.
At wednesday's cabinet meeting, the journalists present were each given a sapling of an oak tree as a symbol of their commitment to protecting the environment and afforestation of the country.
This fall, more than 26 million saplings of oak, ash, acacia and maple trees will be planted on 4,000 hectares of land in Moldova.
440 planting sites will be opened across the country in partnership with 160 town halls. Every interested citizen will thus be able to get involved in this vast national ecological project.
