The National Environment Fund has approved a grant of 467,000 lei to stop the land erosions in Gotesti village, Cantemir district, where a number of bluffs menace houses, Info-Prim Neo has learnt from the Environment Ministry. The works to be operated in this respect amount to 3 million lei and will last till 2011. A part of the land on which the anti-erosion works will roll out belong to private entities and this is the main hindrance to continue the works. The bluffs from Gotesti have already affected over 7 km along the Prut river. Several families have been evacuated, as their houses may be engulfed by the bluffs, Info-Prim Neo has learnt from the Government's press unit. The last month's rains made the situation even worse, as the soil erosion and the land slides activated. Some bluffs have become as deep as 20 meters.
