The Government approved amendments to the Enforcement Code at the request of the National Social Insurance House. Under the amendments, if the pension or social benefit is lower than the minimum subsistence level, no deductions from them will be made under enforcement orders. If the pension or social benefit is higher than the minimum subsistence level, deductions will be made only from the sum that exceeds this ceiling, Info-Prim Neo reports. The National Social Insurance House implements about 2,000 enforcement orders a month, deducting the indicated sums from pensions and social benefits, said the House’s head Maria Borta. “In many cases, the deductions from pensions are made on the basis of one or two enforcement orders and the pension or allowance paid to the person is two times lower than the set one. Thus, the people are dissatisfied and appeal to court,” Maria Borta stated. The minimum subsistence level for 2009 was 1,450 lei.
