The whole scheme to liberalize and open up Moldova’s energy market is described in detail in the Association Agreement with the European Union. The Agreement contains the list of documents that should be approved and defines the way in which the market should be later opened up to investors, expert Dorin Dusceac stated in the talk show “People’s Council” on 10TV channel, IPN reports.

“If we fulfill the assumed commitments, the liberalization of the market and modernization of infrastructure will become a reality, not only a thing wanted and declared by politicians,” said Dorin Dusceac, who is a researcher at the Paris-based Atomic Energy Commission and the deputy chairman of the National Unity Party.

The expert noted that Moldova has yet a lot to do in the energy sector and the access to the energy market for potential investors is now obstructed both for political reasons and for lack of profitableness and interest. “Our infrastructure is rather damaged. Some of the aerial power lines, like the Vulcanesti – Chisinau one of 750 kW, which was built in the Soviet period, are now in an advanced state of degradation and practically cannot be used. If this line is rehabilitated, it will be one of the transport lines with the smallest losses,” stated Dorin Dusceac.
