This year, the compensation for energy resources will be granted in monetary form, directly to each eligible household, on the applicant's bank card or at the post office. All households heated by natural gas, thermal energy, electricity or solid fuel (wood, coal, pellets, briquettes) are eligible. To benefit from compensation, household consumers must complete the application online or at the social worker’s office by November 28, regardless of whether or not they registered in the system last year. If the persons do not apply, they will not benefit from compensation, IPN reports.

The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection said that citizens can ask for compensation for the cold period of the year, which includes the months of November to March. This time, vulnerability categories are no longer used. The decision to grant compensation and the amount of compensation are decided individually by the "Energy Vulnerability" information system. The compensation varies for each household, depending on the income, the number of people living together, their status (severely disabled, child, pensioner, full-time student, unemployed), type of main source of heating in the home, etc.

In order to benefit from energy compensation, household consumers fill out the application online or at the social worker’s office, no matter whether they registered in the system last year or not.

"People who do not have access to the internet or experience difficulties in registering on the platform can complete the application with the help of social workers or specialists of unified public service centers. In localities with a large number of applicants, mobile teams will be available to help the citizens register. For questions related to the registration process, the toll-free number of the call center 0 8000 5000 is available (Monday-Friday from 08:00 a.m. to 06:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10.00 a.m. to 04:00 p.m.)", said the Ministry.

The compensation is granted from the Energy Vulnerability Reduction Fund, which is financed with state budget resources and is backed by the European Union and other development partners.

In the 2023-2024 season, more than 750,000 households, of which almost a third used wood-based heating, benefited from compensation.
