“The people living in northern and southern Moldova will no more have to queue up at the consulate in Chisinau,” the secretary general of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Mihai Capatana stated for Info-Prim Neo. On July 9, Mihai Capatana attended the inauguration of the Romanian consulate in Cahul.
The consulate in Cahul will provide the whole range of consular services – visas, small-scale traffic permits, notary documents, etc. The Moldovan citizens will benefit from concessions when paying taxes through the banking system.
Mihai Capatana reiterated about 1.12 million Moldovan people are entitled to small-scale traffic permits, including 300,000 people living in the south of the country.
The Romanian consulate in Cahul headed by Gentiana Serbu will have consular competence in the municipality of Chisinau and seven districts: Basarabeasca, Cantemir, Cahul, Cimislia, Leova, Taraclia, and the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia.
The consulate starts work on July 12. It will work from 8.30 until 16.30. Applications will be accepted by 14.30, while documents will be issued in the afternoon.
The Romanian consulate in Cahul was opened simultaneously with the consulate in Balti. Moldovan and Romanian Foreign Ministers Iuire Leanca and Teodor Baconschi took part in the inaugural ceremony in Balti.
