The young people with disabilities aim to work, but the quality of their studies is usually low. On the other hand, the economic entities are not sufficiently stimulated to employ these. In such conditions, many of them have to do unskilled work. During a year, the Association “Motivatie” has promoted a project to socially include the young people with disabilities, helping them to find a suitable job.
Ludmila Iachim, project manager at “Motivatie”, in a news conference at IPN, said the young people who benefitted from training within the program managed to find employment as sellers, operators, distributors or accountants.
A problem to which Ludmila Iachim referred is the inaccessible infrastructure of the institutions where there are vacancies. The persons with disabilities cannot at least enter these institutions to compete for these posts.
Igor Meriacre, executive director of the Association “Motivatie”, criticized the insufficient involvement of the state. “The state at this moment does not offer support to the economic entities when these employ disabled persons. At least 5% of the personnel must represent persons with disabilities. These should have shorter working hours at a full salary. The proposal is for the state to create mechanisms for assisting the employers. In Europe for example, the difference in the working hours is paid by the state,” he said.
According to the National Bureau of Statistics, in 2014 there were 184,800 persons with disabilities, 13,400 of whom were children younger than 17.
