Employers that do not respect work norms at Central Market sued

The economic entities operating at the Central Market of Chisinau that do not obey the working rules in the cold period are sued. The State Labor Inspectorate initiated inspections to identify employers that do not create appropriate working conditions for the sellers. Marin Marcu, chief inspector of the Chisinau Local Labor Inspectorate, has told Info-Prim Neo that almost all the employers violate the work norms because they don’t know the legislation or are irresponsible, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to him, there were inspected 25 workplaces that belong to 13 employers. So far, there were carried out nine inspections and drawn up four reports on the identified irregularities, which were used to file lawsuits. Four economic entities were tried and fined in accordance with the Code of Administrative Offenses. They are to pay fines of 1 000 to 1 500 lei. Marian Marcu said the Inspectorate sent prescriptions to all the economic entities, warning them they should respect the work norms. The persons who work in the open air must be provided with special clothes and hot tea (at least 1 liter) by the employer. They must have breaks and places were to warm themselves up. During the inspections, it was established that the employers did not give warm clothes and hot tea to the employees. There were identified seven persons who worked illegally as they did not have an individual work contract. The employers who do not sign work contracts with their employees are penalized through court. Marin Marcu stated that more inspections will be carried out at the Central Market to identify all the economic entities that do not obey the work norms. Recently, Minister of Labor, Social Protection and Family Valentina Buliga paid a work visit to the Central Market together with inspectors of the State Labor Inspectorate. She said then that the sellers at the Market work in unfavorable conditions and the situation must be remedied.
