The employers who provide jobs to persons with disabilities, persons freed from detection or victims  of trafficking in human beings can ask for subsidies from the state for partially compensating the salary paid to persons from risk groups. The relevant provisions of the law on the promotion of employment and unemployment benefit take effect on February 10, six month after they were published in the Official Gazette (August 10, 2018), IPN reports.

The salary subsidy is provided for a period of six months and represents 30% of the average official salary for the previous year. Such subsidies will be given to employers that hire persons aged 50 and over, victims of domestic violence and persons who struggle against the use of drugs following social-psychological rehabilitation.

The subsidy is provided only for unemployed persons who were registered with or were referred by the local bodies of the National Employment Agency. The employer can receive subsidies for each hired person only once during 36 consecutive months.

The employers are obliged to maintain labor relations with the hired person for a period of at least 12 months of the end of the period for which the subsidy was provided. If the work contract is terminated before time, this is obliged to restore the subsidies, except for cases when the salary earner violated labor discipline.

Employers that will create or adjust workplaces for persons with disabilities will benefit from a one-time subsidy for each adjusted workplace. The subsidy will represent 50% of the costs incurred by the employer, but cannot be larger than ten average official monthly salaries for the previous year. The employer is obliged to keep the created or adjusted workplace for at least 36 months. If the person with disabilities is fired or this resigns before the period of 36 months expires, the employer is obliged to hire another unemployed person with disabilities referred by the National Employment Agency at least for the remaining period or will have to return the money.
