The Employers Association of Road Transport Operators complains about abuses and illegal inspections. In a flashmob meeting in front of the building of the EU Delegation in Chisinau on Wednesday, the Association’s head Oleg Alexa said that during the past two weeks, on the pretext of alleged violations, the carriers have been stripped of registration numbers. On Monday, these are returned. “The goal of these abuses is to make the carriers voluntarily give up providing transportation services for carriers on Sunday,” stated Oleg Alexa.

According to him, the institutions managed by the Ministry of the Interior compiled lists with units of transport that conveyed people to protests. The patrol inspectors stopped them and photographed the documents of drivers and lists of passengers. “They illegally collected information so as to be able to influence the passengers and drivers. We, the carriers, will not allow using against us the same mechanisms as those applied during the state capture,” said Oleg Alexa, noting the Constitution provides that the citizens have the right to protest.

The head of the Employers Association of Road Transport Operators noted the second flashmob meeting of the kind will be held next to the General Police Inspectorate. If no reaction follows, protests with suspension of routes in the country will be staged.

On November 13, the Shor Party mounted a protest in Chisinau. According to the organizers, about 30,000 people could not get to the protest venue as the police banned buses and minibuses carrying protesters from traveling to the capital city.
