The Institute for Penal Reform NGO will hold two training seminars for teachers and social assistants working for Balti community centers for children and youth on September 8-10 and September 13-15, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a communiqué, the organizers say the seminars are designed to develop the professional abilities of the employees of these centers and to help them optimize the activities organized for the local young people, including those who are at risk. The participants in the two seminars will learn about child-friendly services and how to identify the age particularities and needs of the beneficiaries of community centers. They will also be trained to plan and carry out activities involving teens and to engage the young people in activity planning. “When the family is affected by different social problems, the children are those who suffer the most. As they lack parental care, they can be influenced by negative social factors that often bring them into conflict with the law. The centers for youth started to play a special role in the communities. They implement different psychosocial development programs for children at risk. Therefore, the role of these centers’ employees in assisting such children is very important in preventing juvenile delinquency,” says the communiqué. The seminars are organized as part of the project “Promotion of New Elements of Justice for Children in Moldova’s Legal System”, with financial support from UNICEF Moldova.
