President Maia Sandu had a meeting with Romanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Emil Hurezeanu, who is on a visit to Chisinau. The talks confirmed the privileged nature of the bilateral relationship and Romania's constant support for Moldova, IPN reports, with reference to a press release issued by the President’s Office.

During the discussions, a priority topic was the importance of extending the cooperation between the two countries in the energy sector given that half of the volume of electricity consumed in the Republic of Moldova is imported from Romania.

Among the topics for discission was the strengthening of economic ties between the two states and motivation of Romanian companies to invest in the Republic of Moldova. Emphasis was also placed on improving transport infrastructure, including the construction of new bridges over the Prut River and streamlining border traffic, for the benefit of citizens on both banks.

The Romanian diplomat also had a discussion with Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu. The head of the legislature expressed gratitude for the consistent support offered by Romania in accelerating the European integration and for the diplomatic effort to mobilize extended European support for the Republic of Moldova.

"Please stand by the Republic of Moldova in 2025 as well because it is a year that can open a more predictable corridor for our European agenda," said Igor Grosu.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania Emil Hurezeanu reiterated that the Republic of Moldova will continue to benefit from Romania's solid and continuous support in advancing the European agenda and strengthening the European course.
