An outbreak of African swine fever was confirmed in Răzeni commune of Ialoveni district, prompting the authorities to impose severe restrictions and biosecurity measures to prevent the spread of the disease. The Commission for Emergency Situations of Ialoveni district decided to set protection and surveillance zones and to install disinfection filters at the entrance and exit of the locality, IPN reports.

Also, a protection zone was established within a radius of 3 kilometers around the outbreak, which includes the localities of Răzeni and Codreni. The surveillance zone extends over a radius of 10 kilometers, covering a number of villages in the districts of Ialoveni, Cimislia and Causeni.

The authorities call on both residents and carriers to comply with the measures:

The decision was taken at the emergency meeting of the Commission for Emergency Situations, where the authorities analyzed the situation and approved an action plan to combat the virus. On February 7, the road company "Drumuri Ialoveni" set up disinfection filters and road signs at the entrances and exits of Răzeni commune.

African swine fever is a highly contagious viral disease that affects domestic pigs and wild boars, but poses no danger to humans. However, the impact on the livestock sector is major, and the expansion of outbreaks can lead to significant economic losses and disruptions to pork supplies.
