As of February 5, all the consular services of the Consular Section of the Embassy of Romania in Chisinau will be provided by appointment only. In a press release, the Embassy said this is done in a move to support the citizens. Appointments can be scheduled through the Online Consular Office at www.econsulat.ro. The presence at the Consulate’s offices will no longer be required, IPN reports.

The Embassy noted that appointments for submitting applications for visas can be further made through www.eviza.ro. The scheduling for all the consular services is free. “The measure is designed to assist the reform process and to support the improvement of the appointments system,” it is said in the press release.

The institution reiterates the call not to use the services of consultancy companies or persons who claim to be employees of consular offices as one can become the victim of swindlers. Romania’s embassies and consular offices abroad do not assume responsibility for payments and services requested or provided outside these.

The Embassy of Romania reminds that the procedure for registering and/or transcribing birth and marriage certificates is different as of January 21. Thus, the application for registering and/or transcribing birth and marriage certificates can be submitted in person, while in the case of minors by the young person or by parents, not by proxy as until recently. The move is aimed at simplifying the procedure for registering and/or transcribing civil status documents and at reducing the waiting time for having the application processed.

The applicants for consular services will be able to submit an application for registering and/or transcribing the mentioned documents at the Civil Status Offices of the mayor’s offices of all municipalities – resident counties or sectors of Bucharest municipality. Those who had a permit of stay in Romania can file an application to that place of residence.
