The Ambassador of Romania, Filip Teodorescu declared at a press conference on the occasion of the National Day of Romania, that starting next week the on-line scheduling system will be introduced, so that the scheduled persons will be interviewed on a settled day and hour. In this way, queues, crowd, involvement of doubtful persons, proposing visa related services for money, will be excluded. After the introduction of this system, transparency will be guaranteed, the absorption capacity of visa requests will raise and unjustified expectations will be eliminated. At the same time, the cited source says that the Embassy is prepared to undertake material and organizational efforts so that the citizens from the northern and nouthern regions benefit from favorable conditions in the visa issuance process at the two consular offices which are planned to be opened in Cahul and Balti. Meanwhile however, Moldovan authorities did not answer to the solicitations of the Romanian Embassy to open the two consular offices. According to the Ambassador, Romania was the last candidate for accession which introduced the visa regime for Moldova. The agreement stipulates several facilities, as the visa regime is flexible, asymmetric and free of charge. The holders of the diplomatic passports, members of airplane crews, the persons granted with temporary or permanent residence on the territory of Romania will have the right to enter, leave, cross and stay on the territory of Romania without visa for 90 days each 6 months. The ambassador says that the persons, who want to spend their winter vacation in Romania or those who work abroad and are coming home for holydays, must start the visa obtaining procedure so they do not have troubles as regards their vacation or when coming back to the country were they are working in. Starting January 1, 2007 Romania will become an EU member country, fact which determined the introduction of visas for the Republic of Moldova.
