Articles of protective clothing for medical personnel to the value of approximately 1 million lei were handed over to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection. The articles were manufactured by a Moldovan enterprise with financing provided by the Embassy of Germany in Chisinau, IPN reports.

“COVID-19 poses a threat to people all over the world. Limiting the spread of the virus and protecting everyone, until a vaccine or an efficient medicine is found, remain our common goal. That’s why we are glad that Ambassador Angela Ganninger could today hand over articles of protective clothing for medical personnel to the value of about 1 million lei to Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection Viorica Dumbrăveanu,” the Embassy of Germany says in a press release.

Since the start of the crisis, Germany has provided assistance worth over €100 million to the United Nations, including the World Health Organization and other international organizations that offer support, so as to this way contribute to a more efficient and extensive combating of the virus all over the world. Earlier this week, the Federal Government accepted to provide €525 million for finding a vaccine against the coronavirus, which is to be studied and then distributed equitably.

By the mandate of the Federal Government, the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and the German bank Reconstruction Credit Institute (KfW) continue the activities in the Republic of Moldova, including in the field of economic consultancy, which is important for overcoming the economic impact of the crisis. For example, GIZ offered assistance to Moldovan producers in transferring the production processes so as to make protective clothing.

Also, Germany, as a member state of the EU, is directly taking part in the broad assistance proposals of the European Union. Among these is an allocation of €87 million for the Republic of Moldova for satisfying the immediate needs, such as the purchase of protective equipment, and also the offering of another €100 million in macro-financial assistance.
