The Government approved the replacement of the Visa Subsystem with the Visa Management Information System for use by embassies and consular offices, IPN reports.

According to Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Tudor Ulianovschi, a series of amendments were made to the regulations concerning the issuing of visas in order to adjust the national legislation to the European one. Thus, the period of stay in Moldova for foreigners was recalculated. Earlier, these could stay in the country for 90 days during six months of the first entry in Moldova. From now on, the period of stay will be 90 days during any period of 180 days.

Another change refers to the embassies. When an applicant for a visa is known for his integrity, this will be able to get a visa for Moldova without presenting the invitation issued by the competent authority.

The applicants for visas of transit through Moldova will no longer need to present evidence of secured accommodation as most of these are long route drivers who sleep in their vehicles.

The Visa Management Information System could be accessed through the governmental service MPass.
