Most of the families that are eligible for additional support during the cold period of the year got financial aid. Over 48,400 recipients picked the one-off amount of 3,000 or 5,000 lei, IPN reports.
The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection reminds that among those who are eligible for lump sums during the cold period of the year are: pensioners born before 1945 who have a pension lower than 3,000 lei; families who have children with severe disabilities to care for and supervise; families with disabled persons included in the social service “Personal assistance”; breastfeeding women with at least one child aged 0-13 months, who have received social assistance since October 2023.
The Ministry urges the people who were notified that the cash transfer had been made but haven’t yet picked up the money to go to the local post office by the end of this month.
The money is provided as part of a package of additional support measures for vulnerable population during the winter season, which was launched by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection in partnership with the United Nations World Food Program, the United Nations Population Fund and the International Organization for Migration.
