Eleven youth centers will be set up in districts. In this regard, the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research on March 13 signed agreements with the heads of the 11 districts. Equipment and furniture to the value of 5 million lei was purchased for outfitting the centers. By 8 million lei will be allocated annually for developing youth services, IPN reports.

Minister of Education Monica Babuc said that attending these centers, the young people will be able to take an active part in the social life of the communities from which they come and will be encouraged to develop professionally. The centers will help stimulate civic activism among the young people and will develop education, socialization and healthy lifestyle promotion activities.

“These centers are absolutely necessary to our communities. We are those who should warn about the problems faced by young people and should engage them in activities and help them to develop. The young people nowadays encounter many problems because they are not seen and heard,” said Iraida Binzari, head of Falesti district.

Ion Leuca, head of Glodeni district, said the young people are willing to become involved in community activities, but should be guided in these activities. Currently, as there is no starting point, the activities are organized chaotically.

The 11 districts where youth centers will be opened are: Cahul, Criuleni, Falesti, Floresti, Glodeni, Leova, Nisporeni, Ocnita, Rascani, Rezina, and Straseni. Last November, similar agreements were signed with nine districts, namely Dubasari, Edinet, Hancesti, Orhei, Soroca, Ungheni, Anenii Noi, Cimislia, and Sangerei.
