Elevators catch fire inside of 20-floor residential building

The uniquely designed residential building dubbed Daisy-Flower and located in Chisinau's Rose Valley neighborhood was one step from a disaster Wednesday evening after the elevators inside it caught fire. The 20-floor residential building, actually a tenement, has only one stairway and the blaze caused panic among the hundreds of people inhabiting it. Tatiana Corceac, the spokesperson for the Emergencies Service, has told Info-Prim Neo that fire crews from three districts were mobilized to the scene to handle the situation. Experts are now investigating, but apparently the cause of the fire was a short circuit in the elevators' wiring.
