A unit for collecting old equipment was set up in the square of the National Opera House “Maria Biesu” in Chisinau on November 2. The persons who have electronic waste at home are asked to bring it by 5pm. The social-ecological action is staged by the association for old electrical and electronic equipment recycling MoldRec, IPN reports.
MoldRec project director Victor Cazac said it is a pilot event held in Chisinau for the first time. A project will be soon launched to collect waste nationwide.
The event is aimed at collecting electronic waste from private individuals and at sensitizing them to the danger of keeping it at home. The collected waste will be temporarily kept in a store and will be then exported to Romania for recycling.
