The new deputy mayor of Chisinau Ruslan Codreanu intends to concentrate his efforts on rooting out corruption and reducing bureaucracy at the City Hall and on reforming the public services so as to eliminate the doubling of duties. He also aims to implement the electronic taxation system in public transport, to digitize the municipal archive and to ensure the protection and safety of stray animals, IPN reports, with reference to a press release of the European People’s Party of Moldova (PPEM).

“As the chairman of the group of the PPEM on the CMC, I already proposed merging the Urban Bus Company and the Electric Transport Company so that we have one, more efficient company and do not lose hundreds of thousands of lei from the municipal budget,” stated Ruslan Codreanu.

As to the digitization of the municipal archive, Ruslan Codreanu said this archive consists of about 22 million documents that should be digitized so that the people do not wait for weeks to have an archive document issued.

The new deputy mayor considers the problem of stray animals should be solved alongside the protection of animal rights. “I promised that during a month I will submit the regulations concerning the protection of this category of animals to the CMC. We should establish contacts with international companies and foundations that sterilize stray animals free. We should be only ready to cooperate,” stated Codreanu.

He also said that the responsible functionaries are the key element of a public institution that can increase efficiency in the municipality. There could be implemented the one-stop shop model. The new administrative team of the City Hall should set out its responsibilities and the priorities of the inhabitants of Chisinau municipality.

On November 6, Silvia Radu and Ruslan Codreanu were named deputy mayors of Chisinau by order of the acting mayor. Nistor Grozavu also issued a statement whereby he announces that he leaves the post of acting mayor general of Chisinau and delegates the duties to Silvia Radu.
