Truck traffic through state border crossing points is to be streamlined. The Cabinet approved the establishment of the information system for programming electronic rows at the border, and also the Regulations on the functioning of the system and the programming rules at state border crossing points, IPN reports.
The Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development said that this way carriers will be able to schedule their exact border crossing time by registering in a virtual waiting line before the start of the trip. They will also be able to efficiently plan their financial and human resources, travel and border crossing time.
“The new system will help address delays and stays of trucks for more than seven days at border crossing points and also disruptions in supply chains. At the same time, it will help reorient exports and means of transport to the Border Crossing Point with Romania and use the territory of the Republic of Moldova for the transit of goods from/to Ukraine, especially for grain, etc.,” noted the Ministry.
The project will be implemented in several stages with the technical and financial support of the USAID Moldova Institutional and Structural Reforms Activity. Programming at state border crossing points beforehand will be available at the beginning of 2024 already.
