Electronic communications revenue increases

The revenue produced by electronic communications services increased by 1.7% compared to the same period of 2011 and reached 1.46 billion lei in the first three months of the year, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to data from the National Agency for Regulation on Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI), the revenue obtained on the market of internet access and data transmission services rose to 186 million lei, meaning a growth of 15.6%. On the mobile communications market, the sales increased by 1.7% to 820 million lei. Fixed telephony services produced an overall revenue of 384 million lei, while broadcasting services made only 76 million lei. In the first quarter of 2012, the highest average monthly revenue per user (ARPU) was 140.43 lei, on the Internet services market. The same index was 108.48 lei for fixed telephony, 73.06 lei for mobile communications and 51.12 lei for multichannel TV services (cable, satellite, IPTV and MMDS networks). In 2011, the revenue in the electronic communications sector reached 6 billion lei. According to ANRCETI estimations, the revenue will increase by 2% in 2012, scoring between 6.3 and 6.4 billion lei.
