In the first three months of 2006, the electric power consumption in Moldova was 816 million kWh, increasing by 16.1 % compared to similar period of last year. This is the most significant increase in last years, according to the survey made by the National Agency for Energy Regulations (ANRE). Within the mentioned period, native enterprises produced over 427,1 million kWh, by 6.9% more than the last year. The rate of internal production into electric power supplies increased up to 41.5%. ANRE specialists explain the increase of the volume of internal electric power production by the fact that electric-thermal stations (CET) had, in the first three months of 2006, a more intense activity compared to same period last year. According to operative data presented to ANRE by elect5ric power supply enterprises, in the first quarter of 2006 there were purchased 1,029 billion kWh, by 9.5% more than in the same period of 2005. At the same time, ANRE notes that within this period, it was reduced the technological consumption and commercial losses of electricity. This indicator decreased by 13% compared to the one registered in the same period of the last year (177,6 million kWh compared to 204,3 million kWh). Now the rate of technological consumption and commercial losses of electric power delivered to consumers represents 18%. ANRE considers that this goal was obtained due to investments made by supplying enterprises in modernization and reconstruction of electric lines, undertaking the necessary measures for excluding unjustified energy losses, especially its theft.
