The Administration Board of the National Agency for Energy Regulation (NAER) approved a 27% reduction in the charge for electricity produced by “Termoelectrica” SA to 116 bani/kWh (without VAT). It also maintained the tariff of 1,122 lei/Gcal (without VAT) for the heat supplied to consumers, IPN reports.

In the negotiations, the NAER examined the calculations and materials presented by “Termoelectrica” and agreed to partially include positive tariff deviations of 35.418 million lei in the calculation of the price of the produced electricity and negative financial deviations of 93.556 million lei in the calculation of the tariff for heat supplied to consumers.

“Termoelectrica” asked for a profitability rate of 5%, but its request was rejected for the reason that the company makes profit and attracts investment. The company’s request to be given a period of 26 years for covering the financial deviations accumulated since 2011 was also rejected. NAER director Ștefan Creangă proposed offering a five-year period, but a period of 12 years was ultimately agreed.

The NAER’s decision will take effect when it is published, in at least 30 days so that it could be challenged in the period.
