The Municipal Enterprise “Electric Transport Management” finishes the renewal works of two trolleybuses, which are planned to be put into service in late May on the new trolley route on Independentei Street, in Chisinau’s Botanica district.
According to the specialists, the cost of the coachwork imported from Russia is about MDL 1.02 mln, and the total cost of the renewal MDL 1.35 mln, being modernised the electric traction system. In this way, the price of a renewed trolleybus is by 45% lower compared with a new trolleybus.
The renewal of a trolleybus takes from 7 to 10 days, which in comparison with the 6 month capital repair period is more advantageous. A trolleybus operating for 6 months brings about MDL 220-250 thousand in profit.
The first trolleybus renewed by the “Electric Transport Management” was put into operation on January 25, 2007. The Municipal Company intends to renew 38 trolleybuses in 2007. This project requires MDL 53 mln.
75% of the trolleybuses circulating in Chisinau have an operation period of 15-20 years, and 110 – more than 20 years. According to the standards, a trolleybus can be used for a period of 10-12 years.
The new trolley route in Botanica District will link Hristo Botev Street with Independentei Street and with Dacaia Boulevard. The length of the trolley line is estimated at about 3.1 km, and the cost of the works – at MDL 7.8 mln.
According to the Concept on the development of the municipal transport, the City Hall plans to build several trolleybus routes in short time. One line will be built on Muncesti Street; one will unite Botanica District with Ciocana via Uzinelor Street and Voluntarilor Street, as well as one trolleybus line to Cricova town. The concept also provides the construction of trolley lines which would connect Ismail Street with Petricani Street and another one which would link Zelinschi Street with the Botanical Garden.
