The electoral period for the new and partial local elections that will take place on May 19 starts. The calendar program for carrying out activities to organize and conduct the elections is available on the Central Election Commission’s website, IPN reports.
“The main activities during the electoral period include the setting up and organization of the work of lower electoral bodies, registration of initiative groups and candidates for mayor and local councilor, establishment of polling stations, updating and publication of the registers of voters, informing of voters and training of electoral officials, monitoring and covering of elections, organization of voting and result tabulation,” said the Commission.
The electoral period will end with the confirmation of the election results and the validation of the seats of mayor and councilor in local councils.
On May 19, new elections will be held to choose new local councils in Cairaclia village of Taraclia district and Chioselia Rusă and Cotovscoe villages of ATU Gagauzia and to designate the mayor in Tîrnova village of Dondușeni district, Bucovăț city of Strășeni district, Sagaidac village of Cimișlia district and Hănăsenii Noi commune of Leova district. Partial elections will take place in Cealîc commune of Taraclia district to choose the local council and in Chioselia Rusă and Cotovscoe of ATU Gagauzia to elect the mayor.
