The electoral period prior to the new local elections of May 18 began on Monday, March 3. The elections in four localities were previously agreed by the Central Election Commission, IPN reports.
According to the CEC, the main actions during the electoral period consist of setting up and organizing the activity of lower electoral bodies, registration of candidates for the positions of mayor and local councilor. Also, polling stations are to be set up and organized, voter lists are to be updated and published. The actions also include informing voters and training electoral officials, organizing voting and tabulating election results.
Under the legal provisions, the electoral period will end with the confirmation of the election results and the validation of posts.
On May 18, new local mayoral elections will take place in Călugăr commune in Fălești district, Chiperceni commune in Orhei district and Talmaza village in Ștefan-Vodă district. Also, elections will be held to choose a new composition of the Temeleuți village council in Florești district.
