Electoral debates at public broadcaster to start on July 8

The National Public Broadcaster “Teleradio-Moldova” (TRM) will start organizing electoral debates for the election contenders not later than July 8. Such a decision was made by the Central Election Commission (CEC) at a meeting on Friday following applications from a number of runners, whereby they ask that the electoral debates for the July 29 legislative elections start as soon as possible, Info-Prim Neo reports. Under the regulations concerning the covering of the election campaign by the mass media adopted by the CEC, the schedule of the electoral debates will be made public 48 hours before the start of every program that will be broadcast. The election runners will be invited to the electoral debates in written form at least 24 hours before the beginning of every program. The order in which they will be invited will be decided by a draw held by the TRM. The draw will include the political organizations and independent candidates that have been already registered by the CEC and those that lodged the documents by July 7, 16.00 – the deadline for the submission of documents for being registered as runners. Nine election contenders have entered the electoral race for the July 29 parliamentary elections so far.
