Socialist MP Gaik Vartanean and the MP of PAS group, ACUM bloc, Vladimir Bolea, argue that the open confrontations between Ion Ceban and Andrei Năstase, candidates for the position of Chisinau mayor on behalf of the two parties, do not affect the activity of the ruling coalition. Vladimir Bolea maintains that Andrei Nastase's statements represent his own point of view and urges people to understand that this is the way in which the election campaign unfolds, while Gaik Vartanean believes that Ion Ceban's rival sometimes is out of line and does not submit evidence, IPN reports.

Gaik Vartanean is of the opinion that Andrei Nastase should be stopped when he crosses the line. "Knowing the activity carried out at the City Hall, within the CMC, we propose a functional mechanism of collaboration that has proven its efficiency at the Parliament’s level, but instead we hear the statements of a man who accuses the Socialists of participation in illegalities without presenting evidence in this regard", said the Socialist.

According to him, Andrei Nastase needs to understand that, whether he wants or not, the Socialists and ACUM bloc will have to work together in the CMC.

The MP of PAS group, ACUM bloc, Vladimir Bolea says he does not see why there would be problems at the coalition level because of the confrontation between the candidates for the capital's mayoralty. “This is an election campaign. (...) The coalition was created in response to the demands of the people. Namely as a response to their requirements, not to their wishes, to work for the development of the Republic of Moldova. We have joined forces to change what has been created around us,” stressed the MP.

As for Andrei Nastase’s accusations concerning his opponent, Vladimir Bolea contends that this is ACUM bloc candidate’s own point of view which has no direct connection with the functioning of the majority.

Ion Ceban and Andrei Năstase will compete on Sunday, November 3, in the second round for the mayor's seat of Chisinau. In the first round, Ion Ceban accumulated 40.19% of the votes, whereas Andrei Năstase - 31.08%.
