The Government approved the legislative initiative to allow forming electoral blocs in election campaigns filed by MP Veaceslav Untila, Info-Prim Neo reports.
An informative note to the bill with amendments to the Electoral Code says that the electoral blocs are recognized as advanced democratic exercises in many countries of the world. They existed in Moldova, but were banned owing to certain narrow interests, the MP said.
Veaceslav Untila considers that the return to electoral blocs will ensure a better implementation of the Constitution, which guarantees the freedom of association and the right to elect and be elected.
The Government recommended adding one point to article 1 of the Electoral Code, which would define the electoral bloc as voluntary association of parties and sociopolitical movements registered at the Central Election Commission for participating in elections, so as to ensure transparency and clarity.
