Three political parties filed applications to the Electoral Council of the Hâncești Electoral District to have initiative groups that will collect signatures in support of candidates for MP in the new parliamentary elections of March 15 registered.
Contacted by IPN for a comment, the Council’s president Zinaida Dubchak said applications on January 16 were filed by the representative of the Shor Party in support of candidate Vitalie Balinski, on January 17 by the representative of the Party of Socialists in support of candidate Ștefan Gaţcan and the representative of the Democratic Party in support of Ion Mereuță. The Electoral Council of the Hâncești Electoral District has three days to take a decision as to the registration or non-registration of the initiative group.
On January 17, the National Unity Party announced that the party’s first vice president Vlad Țurcanu will run for MP in the given constituency, but didn’t say when it will submit an application for registering the initiative group. Also, the Union Political Movement filed an application to the CEC to be registered as an electoral bloc for running in the new parliamentary elections in Hâncești.
Between January 15 and January 24, those who want to run for MP in single-member constituency No. 38, Hâncești municipality, can file application to have initiative groups for collecting signatures in support of candidates registered to 126 Mihalcea Hîncu St in Hâncești from Monday through Sunday.
The CEC set new parliamentary elections in Hâncești for March 15 after Democratic MP Alexandru Botnari renounced the seat won in this constituency in favor of the post of mayor of the municipality of Hâncești in the November 3 runoffs.
