Election threshold in Chisinau reached

The election threshold in the municipality of Chisinau Chisinau is of over 25% as more than 162,000 people cast their ballots here. In accordance with the Electoral Code, for the local elections to be validated, the election threshold should be at least 1/4 of the voting-eligible population, IPN reports.

Of the over 162,000 citizens from Chisinau who voted by 14:30 p.m., 56.38% were women.

By age categories, the most active ones by now were the voters aged between 66 and 75, with a turnout of 21.71%, and those aged between 56 and 65, with a turnout of 21.08%. The persons aged between 18 and 25 and those older than 76 remained the least active voters with a turnout of 4.51% and of 6.33% respectively.

In Chisinau, Botanica district remained the most active one with a turnout of over 33,000 voters. This is followed by Râșcani with over 30,000 voters. In Ciocana, over 23,000 people voted, in Buiucani – almost 23,000, while in Centru – over 18,000.

According to the CEC, more than 786,000 people voted all over Moldova by 2:30 p.m. This is over 28.44% of the voting-age citizens.

Polls close at 9 p.m.

For the first time, a threshold will also be required in the case of runoffs of local elections. This is of 1/5 of the voting-eligible population.
