The results of the June 19 elections should temper the desires of the Communists as the probability of early elections is now much lower, considers political analyst Anatol Taranu. Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, Anatol Taranu said that though the score of the two candidates in Chisinau is tight, it is the result that counts and the result is in favor of Dorin Chirtoaca and the Liberal Party. “The Communists’ candidate was rejected. Chisinau remains a town, a municipality that will be managed by Democrats,” said Anatol Taranu. According to the analyst, Dorin Chirtoaca’s victory has a symbolic meaning as well because conditions are being created for stabilizing the political situation. The results announced by the Central Election Commission show that Dorin Chirtoaca won the elections by polling 50.6% of the vote.
